I bought this for daily waste removal from the bottom of an aquatic turtle tank, and it works really well for that purpose. Our tank is too big to use this for full water exchanges in a timely manner (we use an electric submersible pump for that), but this is perfect for quickly removing solid waste and a little dirty water to a waste bucket.I first tried a manual syphon (from another brand) and it worked well to remove waste, but the bulb pump took a lot of effort to start. I then tried an electric vacuum (from the same brand as this) that filters and returns the water to the tank, and it was less trouble to start but the filtration wasn't great. This was a good middle ground. It takes a few trigger pulls to start the suction since the tank is fairly deep, but it's much easier than the bulb and doesn't require electricity, and it extracts waste cleanly.The clip that attaches to the waste bucket isn't wonderful and occasionally pops free, so I have to keep an eye on that, but otherwise, this has been one of the handier cleaning tools I've bought for tank maintenance.

It's not broken, I promise! Oh my goodness, thank God for the review from Mike that said to not rotate the gun tip or the internal tubing may become undone. Like many of you, I started having issues with this (loss of suction, leaking water, taking forever to start or not working at all). Which was a shame because it worked really well the first couple times. I I would rotate the orange band that connects the gun to the attachment thinking maybe that would do something. In fact it was doing what the other review said and was unthreading the tubing on the inside and causing issues with pressure/water leakage. I took out the screws (which is a pain because they are so small and deep), reconnected the tubing and put it back together. It works absolutely perfect now and I am so thankful I didn't need to spend money on a replacement or other product.

I've purchased two of these in total, about a month apart. The first one worked great the first time I used it. The second one worked great the first time I used it as well. Today I tried to use the newest one (the second one) again, because it's a new tank and I'm doing multiple water changes as my fish are new too and are getting quarantine meds. But it won't work. It just doesn't suck up water. The trigger gun suction is the whole beauty of this item and it doesn't work after just one use. I'm returning it. But I still need to do a water change so I went and grabbed the first one (the older one) and tried to use that one, and same exact deal. Zero suction. That trigger gun just has no ooomph now. You can feel the difference when you're pulling the trigger. It's crazy that it just stopped working after one time for both of them! They could not have worked more perfectly the first time I used each of them.So to recap, I have two of these that only worked one time each. One is outside the 30-day return period by about 8 days and one is inside of it and is being returned. I will contact Hygger about the one that's outside of the return period. It's too expensive of an item for a one-time use only.I have no idea how I just randomly happened to get two bad ones or if people are just not updating their original reviews, but buyer beware. They don't last like they should. Hygger is a good name, or at least I thought it was supposed to be good, but this is not a quality product like I would have expected from them.

Almost perfect but would be better with a gravel guard closer to the tip. Works well for a while but Breaks very easily after a couple months of use.

I was so excited to run across this product. I hate doing water changes because I'm not very good with the older version of the aquarium vac; I can't ever seem to get it going properly without it taking an inordinate amount of time and invariably spilling/dripping more water than seems necessary. I had high hopes for this product and it was as easy and fast as it claims! Super thrilled to be able to put it together in a few seconds and it worked immediately. I have a 5-gallon paint bucket so the clip wasn't really tight due to the larger outer rim a couple inches below the top of the bucket (it kept the clip from attaching flush so it was wobbly) but it wasn't really an issue. I gave it 5 stars for suction not because it's got huge amounts of suction but because it had an appropriate amount for the task. THANK YOU ALL for creating this! I no longer dread water changes or tank cleaning! Going to check out the company's other products as well! Happy fish tank owner here!

I read the reviews before I purchased this product so I knew there was a risk of it breaking, however, it sounded like there was a fix on the message boards so I decided to give it a try.Shipping time was fine and assembly was pretty self explanatory. Easy of use though I would rate a two because you had to squeeze the trigger often and with a decent amount of pressure to get the water to start to flow. I had trouble using it and had to ask my spouse for help. When it was working, it worked reasonably well. We were able to clean all 4 of our tanks once on the same day and session.A week later we go back to clean our tanks and assembled the device. There were no visible signs of failure, however it stopped sucking. I had a feeling this would happen because I read the other reviews, so I took my tiny screwdriver out and disassembled the suction apparatus. The inside looked like a fairly simple design, and I really couldn't see where the failure was. So I took the whole device apart and put it back together. However, this did not help it to start working. We finally gave up and just used the hose to clean out the tank the old fashioned way. YUCK!We have since returned this device and are on the search for something else hopefully more reliable than this one. Save your money and try something else.
