Finally I was watch my DVD's again without too much trouble!!
This small compact converter is a useful gadget which fits it's purpose to a certain extent.I ordered this product after my last Scart to HDMI converter (another model) decided to pack up in the middle of viewing a DVD, which after waiting only a few days arrived just as described! It is pretty straight forward to set up, attaching a HDMI cable (not included) from my new Smart tv to this converter, then from there my old scart lead hooked up to my ancient DVD/VHS combi player. Then used plug/usb converter in to power up device so can finally watch my vast DVD and VHS collection again. The picture quality isn't overall too bad and can still enjoy easy viewing a majority of the time, although I won't lie from time to time the converter does get confused with the set up sometimes after switching off TV/DVD player after use, but find sometimes all you need to do is unplug for 20 secs and start again so the blue HMDI screen is visible on tv so you get a picture from DVD/video playback. As long as you have patience it shouldn't been too much trouble and all round an extremely useful item which does what is expected (most of the time...)

Great product and does exactly what it's supposed to do👍
Bought for an elderly relative to connect a set top box to a new TV. Easy to install and works great with a good picture quality.

Works well but needs an external 5 volt supply. (via USB connection).
This little gadget enables VHS recorder/players with only SCART output to be connected to a smart T.V. with only HDMI inputs (i.e. no provision for a SCART connection). It is supplied with a USB connection cable to provide its 5 volt power requirement. This is its only drawback, because although USB connections are profuse on computer equipment, they are not commonly offered on T.V. equipment, although this is changing. I tested the gadget by connecting the USB cable (supplied), to a laptop USB port (to provide the 5 volts supply). Playing a VHS tape via the converter gave acceptable results but of course it will not work miracles. If you are used to HD and Blu Ray reproduction quality, playing a VHS tape via your smart TV, might well be disappointing, unless it holds treasured memories. The converter was destined for a 90 year old relative who had been presented with a new TV for Christmas. Fortunately the Samsung TV purchased, had two USB connections, so the 5 volt power source was no problem. Ironically, although the DVD player (it was a VHS/DVD combo) gave near excellent results, the VHS player needed a head cleaning tape to get acceptable results, and I had not envisaged that! Are they still available?

Very disappointing 60hz experience
I bought this in the hopes of playing my Gamecube games on my big HD TV with no compromises to the picture quality when displaying at 60hz. Needless to say, I did not get what I wished for.I've tried multiple HDMI cables I've tried different scart cables, and I've even tested the Wii with this. Each time I play a game and have it displayed at 60hz, the adaptor has difficulty displaying the colours Red and Green.60hz shouldn't be an option that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. It should be a necessity, especially when playing fast-paced, reflex-intensive games that run at 60fps, like F-Zero GX. Every single frame counts, and while I understand 50hz has a better picture quality, I shouldn't have to compromise framerate for that.I'm not asking for the most crisp, sharpest resolution possible, just that the display functions as intended on HD TV's since I don't have a CRT to rely on anymore. 60hz is important, and if they can't display it without visual hiccups not present before, then I'm seriously worried about the preservation of my older consoles moving forward, especially when this was supposed to be the solution to that. It could just be my TV specifically, but nevertheless, I am disappointed. Yet another instance of UK gamers getting screwed over by Europe's awful PAL standards.
