Hello! Thank you for your question! We've seen before where some excess paint gets in the joint and prevents full tightening. Try tilting it completely up and down about 10 times and then tighten it again. This should clear out the paint and help the joint surfaces to have better friction for support. Q: Can I use this arm on your extra tall pole? Do you sell poles separately?

Hello! Thank you for your inquiry! Pneumatic arms with extra tall poles wouldn't be an issue. Pneumatic arms with freestanding bases will cause instability issues though, that would tip over immediately. This pole is pretty unique and the only other pole that works is from the STAND-V155M, which is 19.5" tall so you only get 6.5" of height added.
